The cold does not seem to have deterred people from using the library. Perhaps it’s cold winter nights and bad tv that drive people to find that old fashioned book. But if you come to the library on most winter days you’ll find pre-schoolers and toddlers actively engaged in some sort of reading activity- from a story hour with “Miss Becky” to thumbing through the board books to playing with the puppets. An ICN class might be running or a meeting of the local girl scouts going on, there might even be an English language course running somewhere in the background. Inevitably, the computers will be filled up, too.
SO WELCOME TO THE LIBRARY. While you’re here find some fun February reads:
This week, I’m offering suggestions on books delving into matters of the heart for a month that focuses on love:
I Love you this Much by Lynn Hodges. A great bedtime story with CD for little ones.
Someone to Belong To by Melody Carlson for those teen readers who love romance and the idealized version thereof.
Love is walking Hand in Hand by Charles Schultz. A ‘never-goes-out-of-style’ version of love as lived by Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Snoopy…. that Anyone would enjoy.
The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion comes highly recommended, but be prepared for loss and grief in the middle of love. “life changes fast. Life changes in the instant…” Indeed.
So come in for some Hot Romance…or just some place to kindle the fire. What are your favorite Love stories?
See you at the library….

I hear that’s a great book, too! In fact it’s recommended as one of the top 10 “adult” books out this year for teens. Haven’t had a chance to look at it myself…yet!

I suggest The Life & Times of the Thunderbolt Kid but don’t drink anything while reading it. You’ll soon be wearing it from laughing out loud!
